CCS is a statewide program that treats children with certain physical limitations and chronic health conditions or diseases.
CCS can authorize and pay for specific medical services and equipment provided by CCS-approved specialists.

The Golden Gate Regional Center (GGRC) is one of 21 regional centers in California and provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities living in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin counties.
The development of the regional center system was the result of the Lanterman Mental Retardation Services Act [Links-B-Laws-Advocacy],1971 and Lanterman AB846, 1993.
The California Welfare and Institutions Code Section 4512 defines a developmental disability as a disability which originates before an individual attains age 18, continues or can be expected to continue indefinitely, and constitutes a substantial handicap for that individual.
This definition of developmental disability includes conditions such
as mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism. Also included
are disabling conditions found to be closely related to mental retardation
or to require treatment similar to that required for individuals with
mental retardation.
This definition of developmental disability does not include other handicapping
conditions that are solely physical, learning or psychiatric in nature.
A substantial handicap means a condition which results in major impairment of cognitive and/or social functioning, and represents a condition of sufficient impairment to require interdisciplinary planning and coordination of special or generic services to assist the individual in achieving maximum potential.
The California Department of Rehabilitation assists persons with disabilities to obtain and retain employment and maximize their ability to live independently in their communities.
DOR provides vocational rehabilitation services and ADA technical assistance/training. (Vocational Rehabilitation services are designed to get persons with disabilities prepared for employment and can include training, education, transportation and job placement.)
DOR funds 29 Independent Living Centers, which offer information and referral services to assist individuals with disabilities live active, independent lives.
The Healthy Families Program offers low cost insurance for children and teens up to age 19. It provides health, dental and vision coverage to children who meet the program rules and do not qualify for free Medi-Cal.

USCIS regulations require that applicants seeking an exception from the English and U.S. history and government (civics) requirements for naturalization based on physical or developmental disability or mental impairment submit this certification form, completed by a licensed medical doctor or a licensed clinical psychologist, along with a completed application for naturalization (Form N-400). This certification form will be used by USCIS to determine whether applicants for naturalization are entitled to an exception to the requirements.
